Origin

Elephant is the precious animal with those who live in central highland. They were the wild animal which is caught and broken in, then they became the close friend with human in daily life: transporting, traveling, pulling wood, etc.

There is a lot of legends about the elephants, the elephant is famous for its loyal when they were following the generals and armies to come to the front battle. The festival is often taken place in the third lunar month. It is the most beautiful month in the year with the blossom flower and sunshine.

Celebration

 

Elephants from different villages are gathered in the Don village. A long horn sound is made. Elephants are lead by the mogat (elephant rider), all are running and running ahead.

They often run one round, then the one who win will be rewarded with cane or sugar given by the people.

When they came back to their village, people will welcome them from the beginning to celebrate the win.
